WEEKLY UPDATE 18/01/2021
In the Robin room this week their theme is "Tiger who came for tea-shopping".
Inside today the children learning all about shopping and are visiting their very own supermarket, shopping for items off a list they will be given. They will be using the til and money on their exciting trip. The learning objective for this is to follow guidance, help each other share and take turns, using resources to create props to support role play. They will also be decorating tea pots using imagination, different colours/patterns and marks.
Their 1-1 is tiger stripes, the learning objective here is using colours and drawing lines. They will be looking at where the tiger lives, what he eats and the adults will be going with the child's lead.
Outside the children are painting the fences, learning how to paint stripes. They also have chalkboards outside to enhance their mark making skills.
In the Owl room this week their theme is "Number Fun".
Inside the children are working on recognising shapes. The learning objective here is to help the children recognise the shapes around them in everyday life and the environment eg, round, long, tall, square..
The children will also be learning different rhymes such as "she sells sea shells on the sea shore" The learning objective here is to focus on attention and recall what they hear and can copy.
The 1-1 in the Owl room is working on the child's targets and gaps in their learning journals and tracking. Please remember this is always available for parents to see. Should you like a copy to see how your child is doing, please email Teresa.
Other activities today include small world play with characters, cars and garages. The learning activity here is to playing to sector.
Outside the children will be using big wooden blocks to build towers and use their imagination. The learning activity here is to recognise shapes they may have formed and count the blocks they have used.
**All of the above is extra to our everyday activities which include indoor and outdoor free play, snack, children's choice, story time and singing time**

'WERE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT' In the Robin room this week, their story is 'Were going on a bear hunt'. In the room are pictures of the adventures of the books. The staff have made sound effect bottles to go along with the pictures. The children are learning the new sounds and matching them to the correct picture. They are also using them as props for their story. |

Today the Romanian children from both Robin and Owl room had a language lesson. The staff were learning Romanian words and the Romanian children were learning the English words. The children really loved teaching the staff and vise versa.
